Internet of Things (IoT) devices are networks of smart things that enable people and objects to be connected through the Internet infrastructure. The increasing availability and diversity of IoT enables everyone and everything to be connected to the Internet. Examples are smart city sensors that helps useful services for individuals, such as energy saving, security, home automation, transportation, wellness and many more in the future. However, these devices can pose some threats to the privacy of individuals affected by them. For example, a camera connected to Internet could record peoples’ movement, store and use it that is not complied with the European regulations. The Privacy Flag IoT evaluation tool allows users and those affected to assess IoT deployments in terms of privacy based on the UPRAAM methodology. In contrast with the other two tools of Privacy Flag (browser add-on and smartphone application), evaluation of IoT deployments is done by using only the crowd sourced UPRAAM evaluation with no automated tests.
Privacy Flag IoT tool is available via Privacy Flag app. If don’t have the Privacy Flag app yet you need to follow the instructions given to install the Privacy Flag app here .
